Intel® Software Manager installs with Intel® Software Development Products on Windows*, Linux*, and OS X* operating systems. Intel® Software Manager requires an Internet connection to connect to a remote server for information and updates.

Preferences for Intel® Software Manager can be found under the Settings tab.
Intel® Software Manager checks for Updates, Licenses, and Product News for installed Intel® Software Development Products. Frequency can be set to:
Intel® Software Manager downloads updates to a default location unless another location is specified by the user. To change the location for downloads, you can manually enter the path to the download folder or browse for the folder. The default download location is:
Pop-up notifications show users of a license or update status change in Intel® Software Manager. Select the check box to disable pop-up notifications.
To help improve Intel® Software Development Products, you can choose to allow Intel to gather information about your system.

The Downloads tab shows the number of available downloads that Intel® Software Manager has found appropriate to your system.
To download an update for your system, click on the button to the right of the product name. Click Download Only to download the installer. You can then install the software as a separate step. Click Update to download an update to a tool that is already installed. In some cases both options are available.
Selecting the Upgrade action in the Intel® Software Manager only upgrades the components you have installed on the current system. If you have upgraded your third-party tools to a new version, such as moving from Microsoft Visual Studio* 2013 to Microsoft Visual Studio 2015, the integrated Intel® software will not be upgraded automatically. To get the new component, click the Download Only button on the Downloads tab. When the Install window opens, select Custom to specify the new component you would like to install.
The Product News tab shows information about Intel® Software Development Products. Click a message to get more details. Unread messages are marked bold.
The Licenses tab shows information about Intel® Software Development Products installed on the system. If you have received a new serial number, or you want to change the current license from trial to commercial, click the Activate button to the right of the product to activate the product with your new serial number. The History tab shows archived messages, installed licenses, and other log information for Intel® Software Manager.
Some files may remain after uninstalling Intel® Software Manager. To remove these, go to the install directory for your system and delete the files and directories.
